Bed By 10

Elena,

I knew what today’s slice would be about early this morning, but as I finalize meeting plans for tomorrow, I realize it’s 9 PM–Ugh, I promised myself I’d be in bed by 10.

In my second-to-second dilemma, I remember this wonderful slice by Thomas, and I let myself be [somehow] inspired by it. I won’t try to string words as beautifully as he did, but I will aim for the brevity of a post that still breathes discipline.

I am looking forward to tomorrow’s meeting. The foundation is ready; the bricks have arrived. This work represents a significant step for so many of my colleagues, and I feel honored to witness the start of a new chapter for this school. I’ve always been a fan of beginnings.

Yet, I’m cautious. When excitement seems too loud, my mind instinctively starts setting a ‘Plan B’ script in motion. As I envision the golden possibilities of Plan A, I also paint a new picture of the familiar and comfortable I’ve come to know for many years.

If I stay here, I’ll be okay. But what if?

I made it! ZzZzz

  1. The meeting went well! I’m hoping for a position change that would get me out of the classroom. I’m not sure if it’ll happen this year, so I’m preparing for a grade-level switch instead.
How late am I to responding to comments? Now when I’m trying to catch up late at night, I wonder if you are, too.

  2. Oh, that last line, “If I stay here, I’ll be okay. But what if?” YES! So, of course I want to know… how was the meeting? And what are you planning? Also, I love the photo. 🙂

  3. The “brevity of a post that still breathes discipline” — I’d say you’re stringing words together beautifully. See you at the meeting! Ready to work.
