Not a Slice, but Slices

I started drafting a fun slice this morning, but then realized I was running late and Elena was still collecting zzz, so I packed my laptop with a hopeless promise to find a few minutes during the day to finish.

Here I am now, after spending several minutes updating my KLA Slicers Google Doc to share with them sometime next week, when I realize I never went back to today’s slice! Ah!

It’s late, I’m tired, and that slice deserves a more energetic Ana. So instead, here are some slice-worthy moments of the day that will probably never become an actual slice:

1. Wearing a fun data shirt today under a sweater because it was so cold! (Luckily, it warmed up a bit before our PD session, about data! Hah!)

2. Leaving school with a toddler is becoming more of a challenge as she encounters one more amazing provocation in the plaza that pulls her attention. It took us 35 minutes to get to the car today.

3. Listening to Elena’s rendition of the book Are Yoy My Mother?, but switching it to, “Are you my daughter?”

4. Getting 11 responses to my first invitation to join the Slice of Life Story Challenge! Last year, I got 15 after several days of “recruiting.” We might beat that number this year!

5. Checking the weather report for Boulder, CO, before I pack for a 3-day trip and telling myself, “I might die on Friday.”

There, slices!

I’ll end with the last paragraph I wrote this morning as part of my initial idea for a Tuesday Slice:

I rolled over and reached for my notebook to write the sentence of the day (this has been the perfect Goldilocks challenge). The thought of marriage rituals in other cultures reminded me of my Wednesday family and their story. I wrote down, “One day, I should really share their wedding/kidnapping story.”
