“Don’t worry about it; I’ll write the details of that minilesson and leave it ready for Monday morning.”
Yep. I said it.
They counted on me.
Shoot.
I was looking forward to getting things done first thing in the morning. My first meeting wasn’t until 11:00, so I’d get to cross a lot of items off my to-do list.
The first item read, “Kindergarten minilessons!”
Shoot.
Yep. I wrote it.
They are counting on me.
I left my coffee on the table and ran to their classrooms.
“I messed up and didn’t plan the lesson. Would you like me to come and teach it?”
Enthusiastic nods from both teachers.
I went back into my office to prepare a quick chart and mentor text to teach about endings in Teaching Books.
Booklet, check.
Magic pen, check.
Tripod to film the minilesson, check.
Feeling less guilty about forgetting my to-do list at home, check.
Yep, this works.

Love that you can just do this sort of magic! Also looove the whole repetitive style of this slice!

Oh no! I really hate a day that starts out with a big mess up on my part. But what a gift for those teachers to have you come in and teach the lesson! I love how this slice is written with so much dialogue, inner thoughts, and fragmentary lines. The stylistic choices make it feel even more urgent.
